SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The official language of ICS 2000 is English, and the scientific program will include presentations and discussions of all activities in glycoscience following the traditional four ICS categories:The symposium will include the Whistler Award Lecture, Plenary Lectures, Invited Lectures, Oral Communications and Poster Sessions.
- Structure and Analysis: primary, secondary and higher orderstructure; conformational analysis; spectroscopic and instrumental analysis.
- Synthesis: chemical and enzymatic synthetic methods; synthesis of carbohydrates, nucleosides, nucleotides, antibiotics involving carbohydrate moieties, carbohydrates as chiral precursors.
- Biochemistry, Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry: biological functions; metabolic roles; pharmaceutical and therapeutic implications of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates.
- Biotechnology and Industry: commercial applications of carbohydrates; methods of production; industrial and biotechnological developments; carbohydrates as organic raw materials. Contributions from Section D and associated studies will be the thematic focus of the agenda on Thursday, Aug. 31.
WHISTLER AWARD LECTURE 2000
