SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Our Contribution to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
A focus of our work is the development of Power-to-X technologies, which are crucial for optimizing the storage, conversion, and utilization of renewable energy. These processes convert surplus electricity from renewable sources, such as wind and solar power, into chemical energy carriers, helping to address the challenges of a fluctuating energy supply.
We are currently working on the sustainable synthesis of dimethyl ether (DME) from CO₂ and green hydrogen, as well as from biomass in the form of formic acid. This enables renewable energy to be stored in liquid form and made available for transportation, heating, chemical synthesis, and power generation.
Furthermore, the development of indium-based catalysts for Power-to-X applications, including the synthesis of methanol and DME, contributes to advancing cost-effective and sustainable energy storage solutions and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon energy system.
