Short Courses
There are already two short courses scheduled for the ISCD-14 symposium. If you would like to offer a short course, we encourage you to contact the symposium office in due course
Short Course 1: Sunday, September 8, 2002; 10.00am - 4.00pm
Recent advances in analytical application of circular dichroism (CD) and HPLC-CD.
The first part of the course includes the basic principles of HPLC-CD and application of various detectors, software, and stationary phases; detection of CD in emission (FDCD); on-line CD and UV measurements during HPLC and spectra deconvolution procedures. In the second part selected examples of HPLC-CD and FDCD analysis of biologically active compounds, methods for determining drug levels in biological fluids as well as various applications of induced CD (ICD) in the pharmaceutical and supramolecular chemistry will be presented.
Instructors: Nina Berova, Albrecht Mannschreck.
Short Course 2: Sunday, September 8, 2002; 10.00am - 4.00pm
Enantioselective gas chromatography: Applications in stereochemical analysis.
The synthesis of selectively substituted cyclodextrin derivatives and the whole bandwidth of their analytical applications as well as the preparation of capillary columns with chiral phases will be presented. Efficient methods of amino acid analysis using Chirasil-val columns as well as principles and applications of preparative enantiomer separation and SMB technologies will also be discussed.
Instructors: Markus Juza, Wilfried A. Koenig, Graeme Nicholson, Volker Schurig
Fee for participation: 50 Euro; Registration by e-mail to iscd14@chemie.uni-hamburg.de
Social Program Please have a look at our social programme and register to the events in due course.
Symposium proceedings to be published in CHIRALITY. The symposium proceedings will be published in a special issue of the Journal CHIRALITY. All manuscripts submitted to this issue will undergo the standard peer review process. Guidelines for submission of manuscripts to Chirality can be found at Wiley. It is preferable to submit your manuscript during the meeting in Hamburg. The manuscripts submitted after closing of the Symposium should be received at the office of Prof. Dr. Wilfried A. Koenig no later than November 30, 2002.
Student participation The participation of Ph.D. students presenting their scientific work is highly welcomed. The organizing committee would like to encourage research group leaders to bring some of their coworkers with them. The low student registration fee of only Euro 100,00 and the wide variety of low-cost accommodation available in Hamburg (e.g. youth hostels, see below) should make a vivid student participation affordable. The extended poster presentation with permanent display of all posters will be a rewarding opportunity for students to present their research results.
Accommodation Hamburg offers a large variety of accommodation. The easiest way to book a room is to use the provided accommodation booking form (see above). We recommend to send in the booking form early in 2002 (but not in 2001). You may also contact the Hamburg Tourism Board directly, or book a room in one of the youth hostels of Hamburg. Please do not send any symposium registration forms to the Tourism Board! The Tourism Board will only process accomodation booking. We recommend to fax the appropriate accommodation booking form to the Tourism Board.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Hamburg!
