Leica EM ACE600

As part of the sample preparation process, it may be necessary to coat a sample with a thin carbon film (5-10 nm) or with a thin metal film (such as gold or platinum). For this purpose, we utilize the EM ACE600 from Leica.

The samples are placed on the 3-axis table and are coated according to a customizable protocol. Carbon coating is achieved by vaporizing a fine carbon thread, while metals are sputtered using a pure metal target in argon plasma.
