Schwerpunkte
- Synthesis of hybrid structures of dot/rod and metal particles
Research Topic
Mareike Dittmar is working on the synthesis of photocatalytically active dot-in-rod semiconductor-metal hybrid nanostructures. The underlying process is the photoexcitation of electron-hole pairs in the semiconductor. Subsequently, spacial separation of the charge carriers occurs across the metal-semiconductor interface and separated electrons and holes can contribute to catalyzed reactions. Varying the composition of the semiconductor or the metal part of the particle, the photocatalytic activity of the particle system can be tuned. The particles are characterized by photocatalytical measurements by Sebastian Hentschel and several other methods.
