Admission criteria
If you completed a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or molecular life sciences, you can be admitted to the doctoral program if:
- you were among the top 15% in your bachelor’s degree program;
- you received positive evaluations from 2 university teachers or faculty members who have completed a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), including at least one professor of a subject relevant to the dissertation project. If you completed a bachelor’s degree in molecular life sciences, the commission will comprise members from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Medicine. The commission will be organized by the chemistry doctoral committee. The assessment will include a scientific discussion lasting up to one hour.
- You completed doctorate preparatory studies as part of your master’s degree.
- It is determined within one year that your achievements in your first year were outstanding. This will be decided by the subject doctoral committee on an individual basis.
Doctoral studies
In the first year of your doctorate, you must obtain 60 ECTS credits from the respective master’s degree program. In case of outstanding achievements, you can continue the doctorate immediately and obtain a further 30 ECTS credits over the remaining doctoral phase. All required modules and a graded colloquium about the internship module completed in Semesters 1 and 2 must be taken into account in the first-year assessment. If you do not meet the requirements in your first year, you cannot proceed to the second year of the master’s degree program.
Recognition of the master’s degree during a doctorate
Pursuant to the doctoral degree regulations, you must ensure that you obtain a master’s degree in a subject relevant to the dissertation project during your doctorate.NB:
