Research

The Institute of Physical Chemistry focuses on research into nanoscopic systems. The Institute’s working groups cover a wide spectrum, ranging from chemical synthesis of nanostructures and their spectroscopic and structural investigation to theoretical modeling of material properties. Besides performing basic scientific research, the Institute also develops fields of application for nanostructures in modern technologies. By means of fundamental application-oriented research, it is thus, for example, possible to develop bespoke materials for energy transformation or special nanostructured composites for medical purposes.
