Technology transfer
As part of technology transfer the Institute of Physical Chemistry operates the service center for electron microscopy. The service center is equipped with high-resolution scanning electron microscopes for elemental analysis (EDX and WDX), equipment to enable cutting of FIB lamella and the performance of electron beam lithography, and also possesses numerous transmission electron microscopes. From the ability to image at the micro-nanoscale and cryo-imaging to atomic-resolution TEM and STEM imaging with a double-corrected TEM with EDX and EELS analytics, materials science research can be performed at the highest level. Besides electron microscopy, a wide range of spectroscopic methods are available, ranging from UV-vis, fluorescence, IR to laser spectroscopy methods in the field of single-molecule spectroscopy combined with methods using single-molecule spectroscopy. The range of available methods is rounded out with X-ray diffraction methods such as SAXS and WAXS as well as wide-ranging polymer analytical methods. In the field of technology transfer, the Institute of Physical Chemistry works very closely with the Fraunhofer Center for Applied Nanotechnology located in the same premises (https://www.iap.fraunhofer.de/de/fraunhofer-iap.html). This not only enables us to provide support during measurements, but also to professionally cater for the industrial requirements of scientific cooperation.
