Congratulations to Aneeq Farooq on successfully defending his doctoral thesis titled: “In vitro and in silico studies of rational combination therapies against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.”

We are grateful for all the contributions Aneeq has made to the field of antimicrobial pharmacology and resistance research over the course of his time with us. He published four first author papers focused on innovative treatment strategies against multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae and E. coli.

His work ranged from pharmacometric analysis of meropenem-fosfomycin combinations and bacteriophage-based therapies to evaluate complex drug interactions in highly resistant pathogens. In particular, we were very excited to see his final work come together in his most recent paper, “Meropenem and fosfomycin against K. pneumoniae: Towards a combination breakpoint using a pharmacometric approach,” and look forward to the impact this work will have in the field.

It has been a real pleasure to work with Aneeq and we wish him continued success at AbbVie!
