The Pharmaceutical Technology Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Hamburg is engaged, in addition to teaching, in the following main research areas:

• Materials science studies on active ingredients and excipients
• Tabletation:
  -metastable active ingredients (polymorphs, enzymes)
  - adhesive or abrasive materials
  - Minitableting
  - Optimization of MUPS tablets
• Control of drug release from coated dosage forms
• Development and optimization of transdermal systems
