Key aspects of activity
- Synthesis of heterostructured nanomaterials
During my PhD I work on the synthesis of heterostructured nanomaterials and investigate the influence of outer stimuli on the properties of those systems. Heterostructured materials combine at least two materials or material classes in one particle. This leads to new particles with unique and interesting properties, either showing a combination of properties of the separate materials or exhibiting completely new properties. The influence of outer stimuli on the system is of special interest when it comes to anisotropic particles. A combination with other material classes may allow the orientation of those particles upon application of certain stimuli. Therefore, the focus is on the development of synthesis routes for new heterostructured particles. During this procedure several parameter variations are performed to test the influence on the system and the particles properties. Afterwards, the particles properties are investigated, through XRD, TEM, spectroscopic and magnetic measurement techniques.
