Semiconductor Nanoparticle-based Gels as Photoinduced Gas Sensors
The aim of this work is to fabricate gas sensors from aerogels based on semiconductor nanoparticles for the detection of volatile organic compounds or possible other analytes. Therefore, the work is separated into three stages. The first part is the synthesis of the used semiconductor nanoparticles. The second section of this work is the fabrication of the sensors, which includes the fabrication of the used substrates, as well as the gelation of the nanoparticles on the substrate and the electrical contacting of the resulting gel. Lastly, the sensor responses to different analytes are investigated and different factors that influence the sensor responses are examined, with the goal of optimizing the system towards the application as photoinduced gas sensors.
