Laboratory for Structural Biology of Infection and Inflammation
The new "Laboratory for Structural Biology of Infection and Inflammation" was inaugurated on the campus of the "Deutsche Elektronen-Synchrotron" DESY in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld on 25th January 2007. The laboratory is jointly used for structural analysis of proteins by the groups Betzel (Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Hamburg) and Hilgenfeld (Institute for Biochemistry of the University of Lübeck).

The labotarory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology on the field of crystallisation of macromolecules and their structural analysis and offers services and support in the field of the protein structure analysis and in particular in protein crystallography. Three state of the art robot systems are available for the crystallization of proteins, nucleic acids and macromolecular complexes supplemented by an imaging system for the scoring of the crystallization set-ups. Furthermore the lab is equipped with two systems for dynamic light scattering.
