Research Topic
Vincent Mittag is developing the wet-chemical synthesis of colloidal semiconductor double quantum dots (dQDs), in particular CdSe/CdS dot-in-rod structures that are tipped with a single PbS nanoparticle, respectively. For the fabrication of these functional nanosystems, Vincent is using two different approaches, either a direct cation-exchange reaction or a selective growth.
Current or Upcoming Projects
The synthesis of the CdSe/CdS/PbS dQDs works very well via cation exchange. However, various parameters of the DRs are still to be tested to make a comprehensive study. The different products can then be investigated spectroscopically for different properties.
Other ideas for projects are to discover new synthesis methods for the controlled and selective growth of PbS or other (semiconductor) materials on the dQDs.
