Congratulations to our GrK member Karen Schaefer for her talk with the title "Modelling Mechanical Properties of Gold Nanoparticle Arrays with Molecular Dynamics" at the WE-Heraeus seminar "Optoelectronic Processes at Nanostructured Interfaces" from 14 to 16 March in Bad Honnef.
Karen was spontaneously invited to present her current research status in a oral presentation alongside senior scientist at the workshop.

In collaboration with two GrK members Nancy Liu and Ahir Bose (AG Vossmeyer), the goal is to understand the sensing properties of gold nanoparticle sensors and the mechanism on an atomistic level in more detail. To do this, Karen investigated how analyte molecules interact with the system or how it responds to stretching and which bonds break.
