Key aspects of activity
- Synthesis of type-I and type-II dot in rod (DR) structures
- Structural and optical characterization of DRs
- Bandgap engineering in type-II DRs by interface alloying
Research Topics
Jannik Rebmann is working on the synthesis and characterization of colloidal semiconductor nanoparticles, consisting of a spherical core and an elongated shell (DRs). In a so-called type-I system, photogenerated electrons and holes are located in the core. In a type-II system, these charge carriers are spatially separated due to the band alignment. Using different synthetic approaches, interface alloying can be achieved. This results in bandgap engineering on a single particle level, which changes the optical properties and can be observed by different spectroscopic methods.
