Prof. Dr. Hans Paulsens Group has a long tradition in synthetic carbohydrate chemistry. The group was involved in a fruitful collaboration integrated in the Collaborative Research Grant 470 Glycostructures in Biological Systems - Preparation and Function (SFB470). In the last years special emphasis has been placed on developement of methology and applications for syntheses of complex oligosaccharides and glycopeptides of biological significance. This has resulted in efficient synthesis of a large number of glycosylated amino acids carrying suitable protecting groups for direct use in solid phase glycopeptide synthesis. Furthermore, methods for automated solid phase synthesis of glycopeptides and parallel synthesis of glycopeptides have been presented. In addition the group has substantial knowledge in NMR spectroscopy. Actual projects are presented below.
