In those five days we heard lectures and had workshops on exploratory graphical data analysis, model building, covariate modelling, model evaluation and got a first introduction into PKPD modelling. We were joined by colleagues from Basel, Biberach/Ingelheim, Borstel, Geneva, Vienna, and New York. Currently, she is a second-year trainee as a Biological Technical Assistant. Our former team member David Uster got awarded the 2023 Niemann Innovation Price for this PhD thesis “Novel approaches to improve model-informed precision dosing in haemophilia A and infectious diseases”! The price is donated by the Niemann Stiftung, Hamburg. During his time with us from November 2018 to December 2021 he published four first author papers and two co-authorship papers. Additionally, his research was awarded a Young Investigator award at the meeting of the Population Approach Group of Australia & New Zealand (PAGANZ) in 2021. <p>David Schrey is a new PhD-student who just joined us in December. After finishing his pharmacy degree in Heidelberg, he conducted a research project about post-surgical cognitive decline at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. He also gained practical experience as a hospital pharmacist in Bochum. His work will focus on the antibiotic treatment optimization and development of novel infection models.</p>
<p>Max Münchow is spending 6 months of his pre-registration pharmacy internship with us working on an experimental design evaluation to detect pharmacodynamic drug interactions. He is staying from November until May.</p>
<p>Keanu Sackmann also started in November. He is focusing on the validation of a bioassay for the analysis of fosmidomycin in different matrices for his master's thesis in food-chemistry.</p>

He made good use of his time working on his pharmacometrics project and is now going back to Monte Video, Uruguay. During his stay he did not only explore Hamburg, but also visited some other cities in Europe.</p>

To show the diversity, some PhD projects were selected for a short presentation. For our team, Julian got the opportunity to present his work on biomarker-guided model informed precision dosing.</p>

ACoP hosted a session on Model-Informed Precision Dosing (MIPD), which is also a key topic in our research group to make the value of modelling and simulations directly accessible at the bedside. Julian presented his work on biomarker guided model informed precision dosing of vancomycin in a poster session. Between interesting presentations and meetings with colleagues from all over the world, they got the chance to discover Boston, too.</p>
<p>On the days before, the EPASG (ESCMID Study Group for PK/PD) postgraduate course on optimized dosing of antibiotics took place. Sebastian was one the organizers and speakers who contributed presentations about “Basics of Dosing” and “Dosing decision support systems”. Julian participated and we heard many great interactive presentations on breakpoints, dosing approaches, antiviral pharmacology, the use of prolonged infusions, preclinical models, tissue penetration and much more!<br>Special Thanks to all speakers: Thomas Tängdén, Markus Zeitlinger, Sebastian Wicha, Birgit Koch, Anne-Grete Märtson, Gauri Rao, Sujata Bhavanani, Sonia Luque Pardos, and Grace Yan Danielsen!</p><p>Foto: RG Wicha</p>NAGR-fakmin-36097167-production2023-10-09T22:00:00ZDPhG Annual Meeting 2023 in Tübingen<img width="293" height="165" style="float:left" src="https://assets.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/instance_assets/fakmin/36116296/10-dphg-presentation-733x414-3ce01312c98da04d30d311fcbda6c98cf2ddda71.jpg" /><p>Christine Kleist and Emily Behrens attended this year’s conference of the German Pharmaceutical Society (Deutsche Pharmazeutische Gesellschaft e.V. (DPhG)) with the title “Translational pharmacy – Practise & Perspective”. The meeting took place from 07 to 10 October 2023. Christine presented her poster “From mice to human: A translational pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic model of ribavirin and favipiravir against Lassa virus” in a poster short talk and Emily presented her poster with the title “Sparse sampling in clinical study design: Evaluation of the influence of interoccasion variability on parameter estimates of a population pharmacokinetic model”.</p>
<p>It was an interesting scientific exchange and we are looking forward to more exciting conversations!</p>

Daniel will focus on the evaluation of error-controlled exposure response analysis and study design optimization.<br>Martin Umpierrez is a guest researcher from Universidad de la República Uruguay. He will stay with us for 3 months and will use model averaging approaches to augment model-informed precision dosing.</p>

During his time with us from December 2017 to December 2021 he published four first author papers. In 2021, his research was awarded with a Young Investigator award at the annual meeting of ESCMID PK/PD of Anti-Infectives Study Group (EPASG) and International Society of Anti-infective Pharmacology (ISAP) in 2021.</p>
