Diploma Thesis: The investigations during my Diploma-Thesis were performed under the supervision of Dr. Claudio Bianchini, director of the ”Istituto di Chimica dei Composti OrganoMetallici” (Florence). This work focused on the synthesis and characterization (NMR, EXAFS, DRIFT etc.) of new heterogeneized phosfine metal complexes and their applications as catalysts for industrial processes (HDS, HDN, Hydrogenation and OXO). In particular I have synthesised covalent bounded complexes (triphos)Rh(cod)PF6/SiO2, (diphos)Rh(cod)PF6/SiO2, (polidiphos)Rh(cod)PF6 and the first (polytriphos)Rh(cod)PF6.
PhD Thesis: The subject of my PhD thesis consists of ”Polymerisation of a-olefin using early and late transition metal complexes”.
Currently I am working with group 4 metals metallocene/MAO-catalysts in the field of propene homo- and co-polymerisation. My interest is focusing on the microstructure of the resulting polymers using a wide range of monomer and comonomer concentrations at different polymerisation temperatures.
Because of the interest of many companys to employ metallocene in industrial processes, the contribution of silica as supporting material for the catalyst (slurry reaction) is also investigated.
I’m also belonging to an European Community funded Research Training Network (Polycat):

whose objectives are oligomerization, polymerization, and copolymerization of unsaturated hydrocarbons, particular functional monomers, via single-metal catalysts to obtain polymeric materials with new or improved performance parameters.
