Research topics are derived from the man-made occurrence of organic compounds in the aquatic environment. A large number of anthropogenic pollutants is already known to science, however, many others are not. The identification of unknowns is therefore an essential of environmental chemistry. Structure elucidation at the trace level relies on GC/MS complemented by GC/FTIR, LC/MS, and synthesis. Quantitative and enantioselective analysis by GC/high resolution MS is an additional topic.
