Abstract
Brillouin scattering shows that at GHz frequencies the bending rigidity of surfactant layers in a swollen lyotropic lamellar liquid crystal is ≃ times larger than that found at low frequencies via x-ray, light-scattering, and static-force measurements on the same system.
