Abstract
We have made sound-velocity measurements in the liquid crystal -methoxy-benzylidine, -butyl-aniline. Near the nematic-isotropic phase transition we observe a dispersion in the sound velocity. Quantitative measurements are presented on the sound-velocity anisotropy in an oriented liquid crystal.
