3.2.12 Zinc group metals

Abstract

This chapter tabulates the data on impurity diffusion in zinc group metals, particularly zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd). The diffusion data are reported in terms of the preexponential factor (D0) and the activation enthalpy (Q). The temperature range quoted is the range over which measurements were made and used to calculate the quoted values of D0 and Q. In addition, the experimental methods including autoradiography, lathe sectioning, self-diffusion, surface decrease method, diffusion couple method, electron microprobe analysis and in-diffusion method and various remarks have been indicated.
