Abstract

This chapter discusses photoemission spectrum of chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) group VIB elements. Binding energies of occupied surface states on chromium surfaces and molybdenum surfaces are tabulated. The Cr (100) surface itself exhibits two-dimensional ferromagnetic order, antiferromagnetically coupled to the underlayer. Terraces and monoatomic steps on a real Cr (100) surface is figured out. This chapter also illustrates i) high resolution normal emission photoelectron spectra, normal emission photoelectron spectrum, angle-resolved photoemission spectrum, off-normal photoemission spectrum, and soft X-ray photoemission spectrum of chromium, ii) theoretical density of states and band structure of chromium, iii) high resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectra, normal emission photoelectron spectrum, high resolution photoemission spectra and inverse photoemission spectrum of molybdenum, and iv) projection of the bulk band structure of molybdenum onto the (110) surface Brillouin zone.
