8.2.2.1.2 Group IIA (alkaline earth metals); Be, Mg

Abstract

This chapter provides information on photoemission spectrum of group IIA (alkaline earth metals) such as beryllium (Be) and magnesium (Mg). The chapter summarizes theoretically predicted and experimentally observed surface states and surface resonances on the Be(0001) surface and Mg(0001) surface in a table. This chapter illustrates i) angle-resolved photoemission spectrum, surface photoelectric effect, dispersion of surface state, projection of calculated one-electron spectrum, projection of calculated bulk band structure, photoemission spectrum and local density of states of Be, and ii) angle-resolved photoemission spectrum, normalized surface state intensity, dispersion of surface states, projection of the calculated one-electron spectrum and photoemission spectrum of Mg.
