Interaction of Charged Particles and Atoms with Surfaces · Table 1

Abstract

The table in this chapter summarizes virtually all studies on elastic and inelastic scattering of ions from single crystal surfaces. Data for low energy ion scattering (LEIS) of surfaces are listed in the table. The surfaces ( NiAl(100), NiAl(110), NiAl(111), Pt(110), PtNi(111), Pt3Sn(100), Pt3Sn(111), Si(100), Si(111), SmB6(100), TiC(100), TiC(111), UO2(100), UO2(110), UO2(111), UO2(553), W(110), W(211)), LEED pattern, primary beam energy data, primary beam ion, main ISS techniques, measured change in the first to second layer distance (Δ d 12), measured change in the second to third layer distance (Δ d 23), measured lateral displacement of first layer atoms (Δ y 1), measured ratio between thermal vibration amplitudes in the first layer and in the bulk, ρ 1/ρ b, or surface Debye temperature, Θ D, and additional experimental results are listed in different columns of the table. The ISS techniques include ion scattering spectrometry (ISS), impact collision ISS (ICISS), neutral ICISS (NICISS), time-of-flight scattering and recoiling spectrometry (TOFSARS), ion-induced Auger electron spectrometry, shadowing and blocking, channeling and transmission channeling.
