Interaction of Charged Particles and Atoms with Surfaces · Ag - Ge(110)

Abstract

In this chapter the various clean surfaces of various elements and compounds studied by means of electron and positron diffraction are considered. The elements and compounds include silver, aluminum, alumina, aluminum gallium arsenide, arsenic, gold, boron, barium titanate, beryllium, bismuth, bismuth telluride, carbon, calcium oxide, cadmium, cadmium sulfide, cadmium selenide, cadmium telluride, cobalt, cobalt oxide, cobalt titanium, chromium, copper, copper aluminum, copper gold, copper palladium, europium oxide, iron, iron cobalt, iron chromium, iron nickel, iron oxide, iron titanium, gallium arsenide, gallium phosphide, gallium antimonide, germanium. Surface distortion involving bond-length-conserving rotation as determined using LEED are illustrated. The 2x2 structure is also investigated by LEED intensity analysis and gives a structure with missing Ga atoms. This structure is reported in a figure.
