4.2.2.3 A biaxial crystal in contact with an isotropic medium

Abstract

This chapter discusses a biaxial crystal in contact with an isotropic medium. A branch of the dispersion curve for surface phonon polaritons on the surface of (NH4)2SO4 in contact with petrolatum oil, obtained by the Otto ATR method is illustrated. The plane of incidence contains the crystal's c-axis, and the a-axis is along the direction of propagation.
