Abstract

This chapter discusses electronic structure of metals such as silver (Ag) and gold (Au). Binding energy and effective mass for image potential state for Ag and Au, and a summary of surface-state data for the Ag(100), (110) and (111) are tabulated. This chapter illustrates contributions of the sp electrons and d electrons to the pressure P and energy U, pseudopotentials, energy dispersion relation, probability density, projected band structure, dispersion peak, layer-dependent LDOS, and surface Brillouin zone of Au.
