Abstract

This chapter tabulates experimental observation of atomic steps of chalcogenides such as magnesium oxide (MgO), uranium oxide (UO₂) and zinc oxide (ZnO). The topography of step structures depends strongly on preparation which therefore is listed. The preparation included are UHV cleavage, smoke-platelets, annealing, and IBA. The methods included are decoration, EM, TEM, and LEED.
