Abstract

This chapter lists surface reconstruction and relaxation data for (110) and (111) surfaces of face centred cubic (fcc) crystals, namely, Ag, Al, Au, Cu, Ir, Ni, Pb, Pd, Pt and Rh, and Ag, Al, Au, Co, Cu, Ir, Ni, Pb, Pd, Pt, and Rh, respectively, along with the techniques used for the determination. Additional findings concerning the nature of structural phase transitions (reconstruction, melting, roughening) are given in the remarks column. The techniques listed are LEED, He diffraction, AES, STM, MEIS, RHEED, LEED, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), TED, HREM, X-ray diffraction, ion shadowing and blocking, ion scattering, and SPLEED.
