Atomic Defects in Metals · Pt

Abstract

This chapter provides data of properties and interactions of atomic defects in platinum (Pt). The annealing behaviour of Pt of the electrical resistivity after irradiation with e-, deuterons, thermal neutrons and fast neutron. The annealing of the lattice parameter is proportional to ΔQ after e--irradiation. Properties of Frenkel pairs (FP), self-interstitial atoms (SIA), and vacancies (V) in pure Pt has been summarized in table. Results of the isochronal annealing after quenching and coldwork are shown in figures. Different annealing stages have been observed due to SIA-SA complexes in Pt-Au; the binding energy of the SIA-SA-complex has been estimated from FIM observations. Vacancy trapping at In and Hf probe atoms has been investigated by PAC techniques. SIA-SA interaction and V-SA interaction of Pt are tabulated.
